You’ve heard of, and probably registered with Friends Reunited. Well, if you are like us, you’ll have said to yourself “why didn’t I think of that” everytime you go looking for old classmates.

The Radio Academy has taken that idea one step further and are currently working on Radio Reunited – a way of allowing anyone who has worked within Radio to get back in contact with old workmates, competitors and even if you want the old boss. Radio Reunited is the brainchild of the Academy Director John Bradford who told “This is something we have wanted to do for a while and represents something that is at the heart of what the Academy is all about, bringing people working in radio together.

“The radio industry has taken several knocks over the past couple of years and the needs of our members had evolved. We have had a fantastic first part of the year and we have taken note of what people working in radio want from the Academy and are continuing to adapt to represent the ever changing industry we all work in.?

The Radio Academy has undertaken a lot of development work so far in 2006. This has included the expansion of the Academy?s Job section to represent a wild spectrum of radio vacancies. The addition of a number of members? offers which include non up weighted discount car insurance for radio industry professionals and a link to Sarah Beeny?s MySingleFriend website. The first large Radio Academy conference of the year, Production 06, was a sell out and was followed by a Celebration of Music Radio where the Academy linked up with both record companies and the industry press. In addition the tickets for the 2006 Radio Festival are showing stronger sales than ever.

The Radio Academy has seen a 77% growth of traffic to it?s website over the first part of 2006 and membership has increased steadily since January. The addition of Radio Reunited is part of a development structure aimed at updating the Academy and gaining new members across the industry particularly at a grass root level. The Radio Academy is a membership based, non profit-making organisation with membership costing as little as ?18 per year. The Radio Reunited section is collecting individual?s information and can be found as part of the Radio Academy website at
