Capital’s Cowboy chart bid

London's Capital Radio are testing out the new chart rules – by encouraging listeners to download a 30-year old hit by pop-country artist Glen Campbell. New rules mean a track doesn't have to be released on single now to be eligible for the Top 40. Hit 40 UK presenter Lucio's backing the campaign for Rhinestone Cowboy to enter the chart again.

The song was a number 4 record in 1975 for the pop-country artist.

Lucio, who as well as the chart presents drivetime on Capital, told RadioToday.co.uk: "It's an amazing record and you should have it on your iPod anyway, but if you haven't, download it now and it could make it into the top ten."

Radio stations across the UK are already joining in, adding Rhinestone Cowboy to their playlist, following a swell of support from listeners.

In the midweek charts, released today, the support is already having an impact with the track climbing up the chart from nowhere.
