The 32nd Sound Broadcasting Equipment Show will take place in Birmingham on November 14th and 15th. Over 40 companies have already confirmed their attendence, equating to over 60 percent of available stand space, making it a must-visit show for radio folk across the UK.

In order to make sure the trade show continues to cater for the needs of the sound and radio industry, Dave and Paula McVittie of organisers Point Promotions invited representatives of the industry to discuss how to move the show forward. As with many specialist trade shows, the scale of SBES has reduced somewhat in recent years and, although it is still as large as it was ten years ago, there is no doubt that the event is gradually adapting to the new reality of the Internet age to enhance its viability and ensure its future relevance to the industry.

For exhibitors SBES still remains a vital fixture in the industry calendar. At broadcast software specialists, P-Squared, Director, Liam Burke, explained that: "SBES gives us a chance to discuss customer requirements face-to-face, and we get the chance to listen to feedback about our products and to discuss possible future developments".

Marc Wilson, the Managing Director of Preco Broadcast Systems said: "Our Company represents an increasingly diverse range of products, and we use SBES to introduce these to both existing and potential clients alike. At the show, we can do this in ways which are simply not possible over the Internet or through media advertising".

Managing Director at Sonifex, Marcus Brooke added: "We've been a regular exhibitor at SBES for many years and we continue to attend because it is worthwhile to do so. The number of visitors attending is not really the issue, those with specifying and purchasing powers always attend and they are the people we need to meet".

Last year, a highly successful feature of the show was the 'Future Zone' seminars sponsored by Broadcast Bionics. These technical presentations, which were specifically not allowed to be 'sales pitches', proved highly popular, to the extent that Broadcast Bionics has decided to sponsor them again for 2007. The intention is that others will be offered an opportunity to run similar sessions in future years.
