The winners of the 12th Annual Aerial Awards were announced to a full house at Scala, on the north side of central London yesterday evening by Never Mind the Buzzcock's Simon Amstell. The awards celebrate the best creative radio advertising in the UK and are run by the RAB.

Of the 14 awards presented, campaign of the year went to Hooper Galton for their Nando’s campaign. Agency of the year went to Radioville who also picked up the Automotive & Technology award for their Lexus Hybrid advert. The Gold Award went to Leo Burnett for Fairy Non-Bio whilst Client Advertiser of the Year went to Government agency, COI. Paul Burke of Paul Burke Production was presented with The Lifetime Achievement Award.

Andrew Harrison, chief executive officer of the RadioCentre (which incorporates the RAB), said: “Radio is a uniquely powerful medium and this year’s winners have demonstrated how the right creative can unlock that power. Radioville write and produce some of the most recognised campaigns on radio such as Carphone Warehouse, Talk Talk, Maureen and Autoglass. Many of these campaigns run week in week out, tapping into the listener station relationship to get messages across in the most effective way.”

John O’Keeffe, executive director of BBH and joint chairman of the Aerial Awards enjoyed the awards: “It’s always good to be able to recognise the talents that have given special focus and invested time in developing creative radio advertising and the Aerials enable us to do just that.”
