A new frequency for CityBeat

Belfast radio station CityBeat is launching a new transmitter tonight to cover a larger area of Greater Belfast, with an extra potential 80,000 listeners. The new frequency of 102.5 FM, which has recently gained Ofcom approval, will complement the existing coverage by the station on 96.7 FM.

The repeater signal will run off the Carnmoney Hill transmitter at Glengormley, boosting CityBeat’s current output from Black Mountain further into Greater Belfast.

Richard Collett, CityBeat Station Director said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be able to launch this additional frequency: "We have had difficulty reaching certain districts within the whole of our transmission service area on 96.7 FM due to topography in relation to the Black Mountain transmitter.

“102.5 will effectively fill in the gaps in those areas to the north of the city, and beyond up to Carrick.

“It will be great to welcome many new listeners to CityBeat and to improve the quality of our service to our existing ones. It’s also great news for our advertisers who will now get effective brand exposure to a wider audience”.
