A new British comedy film called The Boat That Rocked, tells the story of a group of pirate radio presenters in the UK and is due to be released in 2009. An official trailer has now been released and is available on YouTube.

Anyone expecting a full-on radio documentary will be disappointed, as this film concentrates on "wacky" DJs, government laws and gags, according to the trailer. It's designed to appeal to a mass-market audience and those who fondly remember listening to pirate radio in the 1960s.
The film has written and directed by Richard Curtis, famous for Love Actually, Notting Hill and Four Weddings and a Funeral, and stars Philip Seymour Hoffman, Bill Nighy, Rhys Ifans, Nick Frost and Kenneth Branagh. It is being produced by Working Title Films for Universal Pictures.
Filming took place with equipment borrowed by Radio Caroline in a fishing trawler moored in Portland Harbour, Dorset, with boat interior shots filmed inside a warehouse on the Isle of Portland.
