Merseyside broadcasting legend Phil Easton died from a brain haemorrhage on Monday afternoon. Phil had been with the station for over 30 years on and off, and spent the last decade hosting the Magic 1548 Breakfast Show, before joining City Talk last year.

Phil's last programme on City Talk was on Monday morning with co-host Kim Hughes, just hours before he suddenly suffered the severe stroke.
Kim Hughes said today: “I’m naturally devastated. Phil was more than my co-host, he was my friend. I will miss him endlessly and send all of my love to his family”
He was a very popular presenter in the North West, hosting many radio programmes including The Great Eastern Express. He was also a pitchside announcer for Liverpool FC at Anfield.
Richard Maddock , Station Director for Radio City, Magic and City Talk said: "We are deeply saddened to hear this tragic news. Phil was an astounding broadcaster and friend to everyone here at Radio City, Magic and City Talk. Our thoughts are with his family at this terrible time."
Phil took time out from Merseyside in the late 1980s when he helped launch Orchard FM and stayed there till the mid 1990s in various roles including Programme Controller and Head of Music.
