Radio Wave has launched a Lifestyle and Culture Awards, aiming to celebrate all that is exciting, different and unique about the Fylde coast.

The mayor of Blackpool, councillor Mary Smith, the deputy mayor of Fylde, Janine Owen and the mayor of Wyre, councillor George McGann, Blackpool FC’s chairman Karl Oyston and defender Ian Evett were just a few of the 300 guests at the ceremony.
Following the champagne reception, guests were seated for the awards during which the crowd were treated to three sets from Gary Go, who recently supported Take That on their UK tour, Sarah Whatmore and local girl and rising star Karima Francis.
The awards, of which there were 16 in total, were voted for entirely by the public and sponsored by the regeneration scheme, ReBlackpool,
Helen Bowden, Radio Wave 96.5FM station director, said of the awards: “Blackpool is a town that is developing and constantly changing.
“The area is at the beginning of what will be a special time in its log and illustrious history. The Radio Wave Lifestyle and Culture awards recognised, celebrated and rewarded the best of Blackpool and the Fylde coast. The awards were a resounding success and we’re already looking toward next year!”
