CN Group sells Touch Banbury

A radio station in an Oxfordshire town has promised to end "wrist-slitting" music and become "the envy of the radio industry" after a management buyout. Control of Touch Radio in Banbury was passed from CN Group at the start of April.

Now programme director Dale Collins is asking his listeners to come up with a new name for the station, with the prize being the chance to officially "push the button" to open the new station on 1 June.
As well as Mr Collins, the management buyout consortium includes Head of Sales John Crutch and sales consultant Anneka Naysmith.
Other changes include a wider playlist, a new presenter lineup including a show from former Fox breakfast presenter Steve Penk and fresh local talent along with increased news and community output. All premium rate text competitions, including reverse auctions, have been axed and the cost of texting the station's studio has been reduced to just standard network rate.
The shortlist of suggested names for the station include BNB Radio, Buzz Radio Banbury, Pure Radio, Banbury Sound and Cross Radio.
Writing about the changes on his blog, Mr Collins commented: "Our last owners became so boring that some of the music they made us play made you want to slit your wrists.
"But now we are locally owned and I believe over the next 3 or 4 months we will become the envy of the radio industry. The way I want to run this station is the way they should all be run."
