Hospital Radio Plymouth has been named as The Volunteer Team of the Year at the Inspiring Volunteering Awards held in the University of Plymouth yesterday evening.

The assembled audience of over 100 local dignitaries and voluntary sector workers heard how the judges were impressed by the way Hospital Radio
Plymouth worked together as a team to produce a diverse range of programmes and activities to entertain patients in Derriford Hospital and the Royal Eye Infirmary.
Station Manager, Andrew Hill, said, “This is both a proud and humbling moment. I am very pleased that the work of our volunteers has been recognised in this way, especially against a backdrop of stiff competition from many other charities also doing good work in our City.”
The station celebrates its 40th birthday in October, and has already received silver awards for Station of the Year and Best Speech Package at this year’s Hospital Broadcasting Association Awards. Their youngest member, 16-year-old Josh Andrews, was also declared HBA Volunteer of the Year.
