Schools takeover Amber Sound

Two Derbyshire schools are to produce radio programmes for community station Amber Sound.

The station has teamed up with Ripley’s Mill Hill school and Alfreton Grange media college to give a voice to teenagers on the radio. The two schools were chosen because of their ‘media arts’ specialty status and the sheer enthusiasm of both staff and pupils.
Glyn Williams, station spokesman, said: “It is part of our licence commitments to produce a programme aimed at youngsters. As usual Amber Sound 107.2FM decided to go the extra mile and get the children involved. The end result will be a programme presented by, produced by, and totally constructed by the teenagers involved in the Project.
Chris Knight, MD and Station Manager said: “One of the reasons we started the station in the first place was to provide opportunities in the media previously unavailable to those interested in Radio whether young or old. Being able to do this for the kids in the school that I myself was taught in is a bonus.
