Jazz FM has created a new Head of Enterprises role and hired Philip Murphy to the position.
Peter joins from MAMA Group, the independent music and marketing group where he held the role of Chief Operating Officer and was also the Group Managing Director of its music businesses.
Commenting on the appointment Richard Wheatly, the Chief Executive of Jazz FM, said: “We see the growth of non-radio enterprises as vital to the success of the business and Phil’s experience in music and media, particularly in live events and artist development represents a key part of our strategy for Jazz FM over the next two years.”
Philip Murphy said: “I believe that Jazz FM can use it’s position as a key media partner for jazz, soul, funk and blues, to become a serious player in the development and success of artists in the UK and internationally.”
Philip began his career as an intellectual property lawyer in 1990, leaving private practice in 1996 to move into software and internet services. He co-founded Channelfly plc in 1999 and in 2005 became the Chief Operating Officer of MAMA Group plc after its reverse takeover by Channelfly.
