Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is joining talkSPORT as a member of its 2010 FIFA World Cup team.

The national station is an official broadcast partner and will be commentating live on all 64 games in the tournament.

The addition to the team is part of talkSPORT’s aim of delivering more hours of dedicated World Cup analysis and debate than any other UK broadcaster.

Redknapp was a favourite for the job of England Manager before Fabio Capello was appointed in 2008. He will provide opinions on England’s preparations before flying out to South Africa as part of talkSPORT’s own World Cup squad, where he will provide match analysis and co-host phone-ins and debates.

Redknapp said: “The way England qualified for the tournament must make them one of the favourites and deservedly so. On their day they can beat anyone, so just maybe this could be our year and it’s great that talkSPORT will be with England every step of the way.”

talkSPORT’s Programme Director, Moz Dee, said: “Having Harry as a member of the talkSPORT squad in South Africa is a real coup for the station. … His reputation for delivering frank and honest answers to straight questions and giving incisive and critical opinions on the game has made him a fan favourite, irrespective of who you support.”

In January, talkSPORT confirmed that the former Liverpool and England player Jamie Carragher will co-present the drive-time show with Adrian Durham for the tournament.
