Middlesbrough OB for 5 Live

BBC Radio 5 Live is to broadcast a General Election debate live from Middlesbrough on Monday morning, debating the state of the economy.

A panel of senior politicians will debate the issues with an audience of 5 Live listeners.

Presented by 5 Live's Victoria Derbyshire, it will be broadcast live from the Riverside Stadium home of Middlesbrough FC. The panel will include the Secretary of State for the Department of Work and Pensions, Yvette Cooper; Phillip Hammond, Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury; Jeremy Browne, Treasury spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats; and a representative from the Green Party.

The economy debate in Middlesbrough is the third of four election debates Victoria Derbyshire has hosted around the UK focusing on key policy issues, allowing listeners to challenge politicians directly. The final debate, discussing crime, will be held in Leeds on Monday 3 May.

After the Election, Victoria Derbyshire's programme will issue every new MP with a new MPs guidebook giving a code of practice laying out 15 things that every MP should abide by, written with 5 Live listeners. It will be published on 7 May.
