Hertfordshire's local radio station hertbeat FM becomes the third radio station in the UK to adopt the Jack FM format.

The change takes place at 8am Monday when the station will be mostly presenter-free, apart from the breakfast show.

The music of the station will be tweaked to reflect the Jack format, and programming will be based around Jack's Breakfast, hosted by Steve Folland, Dawn Easby and Chris Hubbard, who joins the new station from LBC in London.

Brett Harley, Managing Director of Hertbeat (from tomorrow Jack FM Hertfordshire) said: "The feedback from listeners and advertisers gets better and better – however, the radio market in the south-east is full of Heart stations – and being Hertbeat we were often being grouped in the same category.

"So we decided to look at other names for the station. Leicester Sound, Rugby FM and BBC Leeds were all taken – so we picked 'Jack FM'."

The station has just celebrated its best half-yearly results ever, and as a surprise trip to celebrate, staff were recently flown to Spain for a long-weekend.

Hertbeat launched in 2001 and broadcasts from studios in Knebworth Park. Their current format states that they are a locally oriented contemporary and chart music and information station for 25-54 year-olds in the Hertford area.
