Ali Booker, recent Arqiva Award winner for her cancer diaries feature on JACK fm has died.

The radio presenter passed away at Sobell House hospice after a long and public battle against breast cancer, aged 47.

Ali worked at BBC Radio Oxford for over 10 years and joined Jack FM a couple of years ago. Most recently she had been on-air talking publicly about her illness on the morning show.

The show won silver for best community programming in the Sony Radio Awards and Special Programme of the Year at the Arqivas.

BBC Radio Oxford executive editor Steve Taschini told the [link=]Oxford Mail[/link]: “Everyone at BBC Oxford was saddened to hear of the death of our friend and former colleague Ali. She was a funny, articulate, caring and supremely knowledgeable member of our team, someone you loved spending time with.

“That’s why she proved to be such a popular presenter. She was always concerned to do her very best to entertain our audiences and to celebrate the very best of Oxfordshire life."
