Lorna Clarke’s new BBC role

Lorna Clarke has been appointed as Network Manager for BBC Radio 2 and 6Music, with immediate effect.

Reporting to Bob Shennan, Lorna’s role will will cover strategy, finance, commercial and creative development of both networks.

Bob Shennan, Controller, Radio 2 and 6Music, said: "Lorna has an outstanding talent and thorough knowledge of the industry gained by working in UK radio in a career spanning 25 years so I'm thrilled that she is bringing her formidable expertise to Radio 2 and 6 Music."

Lorna Clarke comments: "Radio 2 and 6 Music are two distinctive networks which are going from strength to strength creatively and I'm delighted to be joining the team at this extremely exciting time."

Lorna has been the Electric Proms Director for the past four years and has an impressive career history, starting in 1983 in the newsrooms of BBC Cornwall, Radio Viking, Metro Radio, BBC GLR and World Service News.

In 1990 she joined Kiss 100 in London and worked her way up to the role of Programme Director where she was awarded Best Radio Programmer by the commercial radio industry. In 2002, Lorna became Head of Mainstream Programmes for BBC Radio 1 for five years, followed by four years as the BBC Talent Executive and time spent as Head of Programmes for 1Xtra.

Lorna has also judged the Sony Radio Awards for 11 years and The Mercury Music prize on four occasions.

The Radio 2 Electric Proms will now be led by Radio 2 and 6 Music Head of Music, Jeff Smith, and his live music team.
