The KM Group’s Head of Radio Steve Fountain has left the company after being made redundant at the end of 2011.
The group – which owns the 8 kmfm stations across Kent as well as 14 local newspapers in the county – says the decision follows a review of the business in December.
A statement from the group issued to Radio Today said that a voluntary redundancy programme was carried out along with some additional restructuring, as a result of which Steve has left the business.
A spokeswoman for KM Group added: “Steve played a key role in helping to transform the KM Group into a multimedia business, with radio now firmly established in our portfolio alongside our newspapers and websites. We thank Steve for his contribution and wish him all the very best for the future,” she added.
Steve joined kmfm after a long career on air with Chiltern and Classic Gold and a spell as programme controller for GWR Wiltshire. Most notably during his time at kmfm he has overseen moves to share programming across the licences, launched a DAB-spin off station and hired Tony Blackburn and Chris Tarrant.
