National sports radio station talkSPORT has signed a deal to broadcast live commentaries on the semi-finals and final of this year’s rugby union Premiership season.
All three matches – on 12th and 26th May – will be be covered along with live reports from matches in the build-up to the semi-finals.
Owners UTV Media though say the three games will be broadcast ‘either on air or online’ so some fixtures won’t be available as part of the main talkSPORT output on AM, DAB and DTV.
As part of the deal, the station’s Sunday evening ruby show, Full Contact, will feature Aviva Premiership guests and talkSPORT will run ticket and merchandise giveaways.
The contract follows the station’s live coverage of the rugby union world cup last autumn. talkSPORT Programme Director Moz Dee said: “Our commitment to live rugby has grown over the past few years and proved really popular with both listeners and advertisers. As the Aviva Premiership season reaches its pinnacle it’s fantastic news that we’re able to bring full commentary of these three key games to listeners.”
Dan Kiddle, Head of Marketing and Partnerships at Premiership Rugby added: “I’m delighted to be working closely with talkSPORT for the culmination of another exciting Aviva Premiership Rugby season. This strategic alliance will allow both brands to reach new audiences and will further strengthen Premiership Rugby’s ability to deliver news and exclusive interviews to rugby fans.”
