The audio entries from all of this year’s Gold winners at the 2012 Sony Radio Academy Award is to be put online for people to listen to during July.
The Radio Academy says it has come to an arrangement with PPL and PRS so that the winning entries can be streamed, although they won’t be available for download.
John Myers, outgoing Chief Executive of The Radio Academy, said: “During the years, I have always wondered why the audio from those who had won Gold was not available for a greater number of people to enjoy. I am delighted that we have come to an agreement with rights holders and the official bodies so that this audio can be heard. In addition, I am sure it will both be a help to those hoping to enter next year at the same time, showcasing the high standard of audio that was entered in 2011.”
The audio will be available to listen to for a month from a week on Monday (2nd July) on the Sony Radio Academy Awards website.
John added: “Winning a Sony Gold is often the highlight of a broadcaster’s career. The judging process is independent and thorough and, while the audio is a significant part of the judging criteria, there are often other areas that come into play, depending on what the criteria for that category might say.”
