Radio 1’s new breakfast show will be a jingle-free zone – Radio 1 has said.

The Opportunity to Bid document for the imaging suggests pitches should steer clear of sung jingles and variants of Breakfast themes and identities past and present.

The station is asking for a completely different sound to the current offering from Chris Moyles, who has based his show around custom and parody jingles over the last 8 and a half years.

“The new Breakfast Show will sound young, exciting, big and confident. It needs to stand out and not sound like any previous BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Shows. The new theme will need to sound slickly produced and original, including a significant element of live
instrumentation and an identifying motif (logo),” the imaging pitch says.

It also confirms the name of the show – it will be known as The Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw.

Anyone wanting to pitch has until Wednesday to submit audio, consisting of a main theme, a remix of the main theme and a suggested voice-over.
