A new radio station for Essex is launching on DAB next month from the owners of Southend Radio and Chelmsford Radio, called Radio Essex.
Adventure Radio will start the new county-wide station as part of the digital radio multiplex launch in June, and will broadcast from its seafront studios in Southend on Sea.
Programmes will be the same as the completely merged Southend/Chelmsford Radio with Dom Atkins on Breakfast, Tracie Young on mid mornings and Paul Lovett on Drivetime.
Group Managing Director, Adventure Radio, Mark Jeeves said: “I am delighted that local stations are now getting their chance to join the DAB platform. This is an exciting time for Essex and I’m hoping that with our new name of ‘Radio Essex’ on DAB it will give more people the chance to listen to our great songs of the last 5 five decades. Southend & Chelmsford Radio will remain the same on FM.”
Group Commercial Director Victoria Ford added: “These are exciting times, especially from a commercial perspective. We will be able to offer even more advertising solutions for local businesses. We’ll have the ability to continue to offer our Southend and Chelmsford FM options but also now offer county wide exposure to over a million new listeners. As we grow we’re committed to growing our local economy”.
