Real Radio XS is auditioning for a co-host for 106.1 Breakfast presenter, Mike Sweeney with the station inviting listeners to apply.
The station is trying out new voices, with the successful hopeful gaining a role working alongside Sweens every morning on Real XS Breakfast. They’ve been asking listeners if they fancy spending their mornings “playing some great rock n roll, making some brews and keeping an old man on track”.
The position arose after breakfast producer Rachel Houghton left along with a number of others to join TeamRock Radio, now testing on Digital One.
Real XS’ Mark Matthews told RadioToday: “We’ve had a massive response to this. Over 500 people applied via our website, so we’ve had to close it down early. Oodles of radio experience isn’t a pre-requisite, just a love and passion for Real XS.
“There’s a real bonafide job in this for the right candidate and we’re confident we’ll find the right person to handle Mr Sweeney of a morning!”
The first week of on-air auditions included Sooty, a lab technician from Bury and Sophie a student at Salford University.
