Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson is to host two shows on BBC Radio 6 Music about his life and musical upbringing.
He’ll be on-air on the digital station from 1pm till 2pm on Sunday 23rd and Sunday 30th March.
In his programmes, he’ll chat about the songs played when he was growing up, through to the tour bus favourites of the Kaisers, and the new bands he’s currently listening to.
Ricky says: “I’m an avid listener of 6 Music – especially on Sunday afternoons. I love playing records and talking to people so I’m really looking forward to this opportunity to make radio on the weekend.”
In the two hour-long shows, Ricky will play new music as well as tunes from 6 Music artists such as Jagwa Ma, Flaming Lips, Arthur Russell, New York’s Television, Martha Reeves, Animal Collective and Fat White Family. Ricky’s show will featurethe artists that first made him want to be in a band through to the music inspiring him at the moment.
In the first show, he talks to Blur and The Smiths producer Stephen Street. In the second show, he chats to producer Ben H Allen III, who has worked with Deerhunter, Animal Collective and Gnarls Barkley.
