It’s a big day for UTV Media’s The Pulse as the station has started broadcasting from a new studio after 39 years.
The station has been based in Forster Square, Bradford, since it launched in 1975 as Pennine Radio, and rebranded as The Pulse / Pulse FM on August 3rd 1991.
Now the station is now known as Pulse 1 to match its sister station Pulse 2, and mimics the naming of other stations in the group: Signal 1 and Signal 2. The new office is on the top floor of One St James’ Business Park in Bradford.
The station posted a photo of the old studio on Facebook and said: “There’s been some BIG names that have sat in that chair over the last 39 years, but it’s time to say goodbye to our home here at Pennine House, we’re moving to a fancy pants new studio next week.
“We’ll miss the old bunker!”
Matthew Bromham, Station Director for Pulse 1 and 2, said: “The new location will really suit our needs as the leading local station for the area and it made perfect sense to revamp The Pulse’s image at the same time. We look forward to continuing to bring listeners across West Yorkshire all the music, news and features they’ve come to know and love.”
Terry Underhill, Group Programme Director for UTV Media (GB), said: As we move into new state of the art studios, it seemed the appropriate time to redefine The Pulse brand. I know that the team will love the new surroundings and the station will continue to thrive.”
