Celador submits solo Weston-super-Mare bid

Celador is the only company to apply for the re-advertised FM local commercial radio licence for Weston-super-Mare.
The company already owns the licence for the area and broadcasts as The Breeze but asked Ofcom to cut the licence short re-advertise it.
In its application, Celador says: “We propose to operate the same type of programme service as is currently broadcast.”
The reason why Celador requested the re-advertisement isn’t forthcoming from the group, but it was thought Celador would be able to apply with a fresh Format rather than changing the current one.
The Format for 107.7 FM in Weston-super-Mare currently says the service is a “broad music based and local information station for adults in the area” and currently shares all programming from Bristol. But Celador is proposing the same Character of Service for the new licence.
Celador says: “Our programming proposals for the new licence period do not differ substantially from the programme service we currently broadcast. That said, we are aware that audience expectations and desires evolve over time and so we will continue to monitor, evaluate and improve our output on a regular and continuing basis in an effort to maintain a service that is popular and successful.”
The full application is available to view online.
