Resonance FM raises money for DAB trial

London community radio station Resonance 104.4 fm is completing its week long annual fundraising drive today.

This is the fifth year Resonance has run the week-long fundraiser, and last year raised £30,000. This year the ambition is to double that with all the money going towards a DAB trial, a redesign of the station’s website and an expansion of Resonance’s FM broadcast footprint beyond central London.

The Resonance Fundraising Week is a way for the community radio station to help support itself and a way of keeping the station on air. All week volunteer broadcasters at Resonance FM have been asking listeners for donations through events and ticket sales for special broadcasts.

The climax of the Fundraising week is the on-air auction. Running for six years, the on-air auction has in the past included donated items ranging from concert tickets to rare book collections worth thousands of pounds.

Ed Baxter, CEO of Resonance FM, said: “Resonance FM has an incredible spirit and wealth of creativity and talent. This week is a chance to show off our content and raise some cash for the rest of the year. I’m proud to say that, even though we do not advertise on air, over our ten year history we’ve become a sustainable business and curator of wonderful, diverse and surprising content”.
