Steve Morgan is talkSPORT’s new Programme Director as current PD Liam Fisher is promoted to UTV’s National Radio Controller.

The changes come ahead of the launch of four new national digital radio stations in 2016 by UTV Media, Virgin Radio, talkRADIO, talkSPORT 2 and talkBUSINESS, all based at talkSPORT’s HQ in London.

talkSPORT Deputy Programme Director Steve Morgan will now take on the responsibilities of the role of talkSPORT Programme Director.

In other new internal appointments Dennie Morris has been promoted to Managing Editor of talkRADIO, Mike Bovill to Managing Editor of talkSPORT 2 and Laurie Palacio will be Group Executive Editor.

Liam has been with talkSPORT since 2000 and was appointed Programme Director in 2013 having previously been Head of Production at the station. In his new role, he will work across both talkSPORT and the four new stations.

Commenting on the appointments Scott Taunton, UTV Media COO, said: “It’s testament to the talent that we have in UTV that we recruited internally for these roles and I’m delighted that Liam will be taking up the role of UTV National Radio Controller. I’m fully confident that we have the right people to lead both talkSPORT and the new stations.”

Liam Fisher said: “This is one of the most exciting jobs in broadcasting and I can’t wait to work on the launch of these national radio brands with the new team.”
