Alex Dyke’s comments about breastfeeding in public on BBC Radio Solent are to be looked in to by Ofcom.

The regulator said on Monday it will launch an investigation in the Procedures for investigating breaches of content standards for television and radio category.

The mid-morning host said breastfeeding in public was unnatural and must be stopped, but later apologised for ‘any offence caused’.

He was suspended from his show the day after the comments were made, but returned a week later during last month.

Ofcom has also launched an investigation into Kiss Breakfast on Kiss FM, for the show on August 13th 2015. Details of the incident in question have not been published.

News on Metro Radio and The Voice of Africa are also being investigated.

Ofcom says it is important to note that an investigation does not necessarily mean the broadcaster has done anything wrong. Not all investigations result in breaches of the licence or other regulatory requirements being recorded.
