New Head of Music for BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra

Chris Price, Director of his own company New Slang Media is the new Head of Music for BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, replacing George Ergatoudis.

As the Head of Music for both stations, the BBC says Chris will become the creative and editorial lead for Radio 1 and 1Xtra’s music policies, and play a key role in ensuring the BBC delivers the right content on the right platforms for young audiences.

Chris has previously worked at Sony, Warner, MTV and BT. Along with consulting in the industry, he was most recently working as Head of Music for Last.fm. He also worked at Radio 1 as Music Programmer/Producer for six years, leaving in 2006.

Current Head of Music George Ergatoudis is leaving Radio 1 and 1Xtra after 10 years in the role to join Spotify.
