A new national event to celebrate community radio in the UK will take place in August in Lancashire.
The Community Radio Awards 2016 will present awards in 20 categories, and hopes to attract entries from the over 200 radio stations in the sector.
Categories include best morning show, station of the year and best sports programme.
The ceremony will take place at Preston’s Guildhall complex on August 26th, with organisers planning on over 300 guests attending. Stephanie Hirst will host, and there will be a drinks reception, meal and entertainment.
Entries will be judged by radio professionals before going to a public vote.
Awards organiser Leroy Allen told RadioToday: “I’m really looking forward to the awards. It will be a great opportunity to network and hear some fantastic radio. The evening promises to be very entertaining indeed!”
