BBC Radio Leeds has taken Martin Kelner off-air for the same reason it took him off last time, according to the presenter.
Martin says the station has informed him it is moving in a new/different direction and that he has done his last show.
On Friday, 18th March, he posted to Twitter: “Just done my final show @BBCLeeds. Thank you for all your support”.
Martin was on the station back in 2007 when he left suddenly due to a change in direction. Martin was told he was not female friendly enough for the new plan. But three years later and a change in management meant he was back and on the breakfast show.
UPDATE: Martin has blogged about his departure – confirming he was let go suddenly after his show on Friday. Read it here.
The BBC has issued this statement to RadioToday: “We would like to thank Martin for the contribution he has made and wish him well for the future.”
Former BBC Radio York Managing Editor Sanjiv Buttoo has recently taken over as Managing Editor at BBC Radio Leeds.
