BBC Radio Solent mid-morning host Alex Dyke is moving to the afternoon show on the station, as Sasha Twining takes over mid-mornings.
From Monday 11 April, the station says Alex will be ‘exploring the rich musical heritage of the South’ and will give listeners an opportunity to join him as he delves deep into the sounds, the singers and the venues that have made the region ‘such a hotbed for music in the last fifty years’.
Alex’s new show will also regularly be out around the South meeting people that have a story or a passion to share, as well as visiting theatres, music venues and attractions.
Current Saturday morning presenter Sasha Twining will move to the mid-morning slot from Monday 16 May.
Alex Dyke said: “I love music and I love playing it on the radio; it’s a chance to share the stories behind the songs. This new programme on BBC Radio Solent will give me even more opportunities to celebrate the region’s pop culture and to meet people for whom music has made an impact.”
Editor of BBC Radio Solent, Sarah Miller, said: “Alex has an infectious passion for a wide range of music, and he just loves to share it. This programme is the perfect fit for him. With so many stories about musicians, festivals and songs rooted in the South, it’s going to be an entertaining and surprising journey every afternoon.”
