The Compass FM team were presented with their very own award on behalf of the people of North East Lincolnshire to thank them for 15 years of broadcasting radio to the local community.
The surprise award came when the Worshipful the Mayor of the Borough of North East Lincolnshire, Cllr Christina McGilligan-Fell made the announcement during the station’s 10th community awards evening.
The Compass Community Awards took place on November 9th at the Humber Royal Hotel and a special award was given in recognition of the 10th year of the event, as well as the usual awards for Carer, Fundraiser, Team and Volunteer of the year.
On the awards Programme Manager for Compass FM Richard Lyon said: “The Compass Community Awards are a cumulation of everything we believe in at Compass FM. Everything we do is for the community. The awards reward and recognise all the good work that people do in our area. I’m extremely proud and privileged to be presented by the Mayor, a certificate in recognition of our 15 years of broadcasting to the area on behalf of the people of the borough.
The success of the awards year after year and the recognition of Compass FM’s importance in the community, show how powerful and relevant local radio still is and can be.
