Ace is taking over the weekday morning show on 1Xtra, as Trevor Nelson moves to weekends only.
Trevor has been with 1Xtra since 2007 and will start weekends from January 2017, hosting the 4-7pm show on both Saturday and Sunday. Trevor’s Saturday show will play current RnB, while his Sunday show will be all about old skool RnB classics, before handing over the reins to David Rodigan’s reggae show (7-9pm).
He says: “It’s been an honour to be part of 1Xtra since I started back in 2007 and I have loved every minute of the last five years watching some of the biggest performers in the 1Xtra Live Lounge. I can’t wait to start my new weekend show and continue playing the biggest tracks and making the show my own.”
Ace will host the morning show, complete with the 1Xtra Live Lounge. He says: “It’s an absolute honour to be taking over from the broadcasting legend that is Trevor Nelson. I’m very excited to be on 1Xtra hosting performances from some of the biggest and freshest acts on the scene in the iconic 10am-1pm home of the Live Lounge.”
In other schedule changes, DJ Target is taking over the evening show from MistaJam, who currently hosts it Monday to Thursday. DJ Target already does Friday so he’ll be on each weekday.
In addition, BBC Asian Network presenter Mim Shaikh is the new host of 1Xtra’s weekend breakfast show replacing Ace.
