Nottingham university radio station, URN, was named Best Station at the Student Radio Awards 2016 – and picked up a total of four Golds at the o2 in London.
The station won two Golds in the Speech Programming and Journalistic categories for The Nineteen Percent, and another went to URN’s James Turner who was named Best Newcomer. There were also four Golds at the awards ceremony for Leeds Student Radio.
URN has now won Gold in the Station of the Year category for six out of the last seven years – they took the honour in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and now 2016.
The SRA Awards are sponsored by BBC Radio 1 and Global.
Also announced on stage in London was news of where the Student Radio Conference will be held in 2017. The event will be hosted by Demon FM in Leicester in the Spring.
