Former Radio X Managing Editor Chris Baughen is joining the music streaming platform Deezer as Vice President of Content and Formats.
Speaking to Music Week about his new role, he said: “Deezer is a dynamic and forward thinking company with a firm commitment to delivering engaging and compelling content in a unique way. I’m looking forward to joining the team and developing a robust and explosive content strategy by harnessing the assets that we have already developed and creating new ones.
“I’m interested in producing content that only Deezer can produce,” he continued. “Being the biggest does not necessarily make you the best. It’s about thinking differently regarding how our audience consumes content and creating a plan that keeps them coming back for more.”
RadioToday revealed Chris Baughen was leaving the station last month, to be replaced by Matt Deverson. Chris ran running Radio X since it launched in September 2015, and XFM before that. Previously he was an Executive Producer for the Capital Breakfast Show.
He continued: “There are many content opportunities in this space and I don’t believe that anyone has really scratched the surface yet. Deezer is perfectly placed to take advantage of this situation and elbow our way to the front of the pack. One of my main priorities is to make sure Deezeris the very best it can be at producing and curating targeted, entertaining, ground-breaking and sometimes challenging content that will set us apart from our competitors. We are already making great strides in this space – my job will be to take this to the next level.”
