The first speakers for Doing the DAB in Birmingham have been announced by Digital Radio UK.
The radio industry event, which is taking place on Wednesday 3rd May from 6 till 8pm. Confirmed speakers include broadcaster and former Orion Media Group Content and Operations Director, David Lloyd, and Ed James, host of Heart West Midlands’ Heart Breakfast with Ed & Gemma.
Also joining the line-up of broadcasters and executives featured in the event are Rupert Upshon, BBC West Midlands; Graham Bryce, Bauer City Network; Matt Deegan, Folder Media; Dean Kavanagh, Birmingham DAB mini-mux; Phil Stuchfield, Jaguar Land Rover; Ford Ennals, Digital Radio UK.
Doing the DAB will be hosted by Gareth Roberts, Radio Academy Midlands’ Branch Chair and Editor, BBC Coventry & Warwickshire. More speakers and special guests from the Birmingham radio scene will be announced in the coming weeks.
Doing the DAB Birmingham will celebrate the Birmingham radio market and the role digital radio has played in growing radio listening in Birmingham. Hear the latest on:
• Bauer’s digital strategy and progress since the acquisition of Midlands-based Orion Media, which included the Free Radio brand
• How BBC West Midlands is harnessing digital radio platforms to better serve their audience
• How the Birmingham DAB mini-mux was launched and the future for commercial and community stations on small-scale DAB
• The future of digital radio in cars
The event runs from 6pm until 8pm on Wednesday 3rd May at the Hotel La Tour, and includes a welcome drink, a prize draw for a digital radio and the opportunity for networking.
