Wisebuddah has won the pitch to produce Vanessa Feltz on BBC Radio 2 under the new Compete or Compare rules.

Other UK Indie radio producers are also celebrating in the latest BBC Radio 2 commissioning round, with Somethin’ Else getting The Blues Show and others retaining the Weekend Evening Music show, Folk Show and Pick of the Pops.

Overall seven shows were available in the round which was run according to the new ‘Compete or Compare’ process, underpinned in the BBC Charter, which will see a minimum of 60% of BBC Radio hours open to competition by 2022.

Will Jackson, RIG Managing Director told RadioToday: “We have always said our members can put in a compelling pitch for these shows and the results speak for themselves. Thanks to Tony Hall’s Compete or Compare process, Radio 2 listeners can now look forward to benefitting from a wider range of creative input into the Radio 2 schedule, including key slots such as early breakfast, and we look forward to more indie successes to come.”
