Feltz appraisal accidentally sent to all staff

A confidential memo about breakfast presenter Vanessa Feltz has been emailed to everyone at BBC Radio London by mistake.

The Sun reports today on its contents, claiming the memo highlights “doubts” over her position following a drop in listeners – and documenting that management think it’s a “constant battle” for Vanessa to keep up with the hectic pace of a breakfast show.

It’s understood her annual review document was sent out to an ‘all staff’ email list in error by Managing Editor David Robey, who then sent a follow-up message asking staff to delete the email without reading it.

As well as her BBC Radio London breakfast show, Vanessa hosts early breakfast on Radio 2. She was listed in the BBC’s Annual Report last month of having a salary of between £350,000 and £399,999 in 2016-17. This week she’s covering for Jeremy Vine on Radio 2’s lunchtime programme.

A BBC spokesman told The Sun: “We regularly review our output. Vanessa is an award-winning presenter whose programmes have consistently delivered strong listening figures over many years. She is an asset to the station and we have every confidence in her.”
