A Radio and Audio Funding Award for a documentary piece has been announced by the Whicker’s World Foundation.
The Foundation which was set up in 2015 as Alan Whicker’s legacy, provides funding for documentaries that will continue to stimulate and inspire audiences. It aims to help those with talent to take the first step up a ladder which, they say, is increasingly difficult to climb.
In addition to a film TV funding award, the Radio and Audio Funding Award will give £7000 for a documentary piece, with a runner-up award of £3000. There’s also a Documentary Audio Recognition Award giving £3000 to the winner and £1000 to the runner up.
The panel of judges is chaired by Alan’s partner in life, Valerie Kleeman, who said: “The Whicker’s World Foundation Awards were launched two years ago, to encourage and stimulate authored documentary in direct response to the changing times and challenges faced by the industry.”
