Stray FM is getting ready for a starring role in a two-part TV show about Harrogate at Christmas.
After months of filming, the town’s festive displays and the people behind them will feature in Harrogate: A Great Yorkshire Christmas on Channel 5 this week.
The show, which has been produced by Daisybeck Studios, follows preparations for the Christmas shop window competition and the big switch-on of the town’s lights.
Stray FM’s Nick Hancock from Breakfast, Will Smith from Hometime and Managing Director Sarah Barry were among those followed by the TV cameras.
Sarah said: “We were absolutely delighted, but not at all surprised, when we heard that Harrogate had been chosen to feature in the TV documentary, and then to be part of it was just the icing on the cake, as we are so very proud of the area we serve.
“It was a huge amount of fun to make, the crew were fabulous and they all seemed to genuinely take to our town the more they got to know it, so I am expecting the shows to be well-produced and entertaining.
“Harrogate is unique in so many ways, from the fabulous shops and businesses to the wonderful characters and, above all, such tremendous community spirit like no other!
“I hope this all comes across on the TV and our beautiful town really benefits from the huge amount of publicity it will get as a result, as it all helps to boost our local economy for now and many years to come.”
It will be Stray FM’s second TV appearance this year, after helping Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway to play a prank on Jamie Oliver at his restaurant in Harrogate.
Harrogate: A Great Yorkshire Christmas will be shown on Channel 5 at 9pm on Wednesday and Thursday.
