Torbay DAB has announced its intention to apply for the Torbay DAB multiplex.

The company is a joint venture led by local broadcaster Riviera FM, Like Media Group and East Devon Radio.

It will go up against TorDAB, which includes local commercial station Radio Exe and South Devon Radio.

Martin Foster of Riviera FM says: “This bid is a great opportunity to bring Commercial and Community Radio together under one umbrella. This also makes advertising on DAB radio affordable to our local community while still maintaining a high quality of radio services.

“We are bringing a diverse platform of listening for local audiences, that has already a strong level of support expressed by our local community. We are also fully supported by three local MPs, and The Torbay Council.”

Ryan Davies of Like Media Group, adds: “Torbay is an area I know extremely well and love. The one thing it does lack is the variety of radio services available for the locals, and the thousands of holiday makers who travel to the region every year. It’s exciting to be part of the group that could provide this benefit, successful with the bid.”

If successful, Torbay DAB will aim to launch its Torbay DAB multiplex during 2023. Services interested in being included on the application should make contact through the website by 17:00 on Wednesday 12th October 2022.
